Weaving with Tablets [or card weaving]
Tablet weaving makes a great functional textile which is very strong and decorative. This band will make handles for my new bodhran bag. I’m ever hopeful that the process of weaving and making a bag for this beautiful drum will somehow improve [and instruct] my drumming!
This is one of those projects where I didn’t bother taking any notes. I let some of these through because I think it is nice to puzzle how on earth I did it – and anyway I should remember – good practice for old age. I do know that the turning sequence for the cards involved turning some forward and others back on each row. The sort of weaving that requires concentration and phones turned off.

Beautiful colors, both the last two posts. I am impressed that you could maintain the various cards in different packs for your band with no errors! Mine usually look a little seismic somewhere.
What an exquisite piece. I’m just starting to investigate double-faced weave and the design of this strap is absolutely inspirational – the choice of the beautiful colours, and the way they are shown to most advantage by the [deceptive] simplicity of the repeated pattern. Gorgeous.
I really like this band that you’ve made. I’ve been wanting to try cardweaving for a few months now, and this is so inspiring. I’ve already got people asking me to make them things like belts and straps for their horses. I’m sure I can do it, but I’ll need some help. Anyway, this is a great picture and an even greater piece of work!!!
