I bought an Ashford inklette and made a few test bands before completing some in your Celtic pickup design. I used a darning needle or a bamboo skewer for the pickup. My only problem seemed to be the slackness that developed in the pattern threads which wasn't a big problem in the bookmarks I was making but don't know how I would get around it in a longer belt/band.
