Oh an addition, the next thing I did was to dye the weft, a smooth shiny silk. Left it drying when I went out for something. I remember commenting to a friend about how wild the wind had become, not thinking about home at all until I got home to find the weft had dressed the trees around the garden!

A compensation was that it was sooooo beautiful to see my trees sparkling with a beautiful dyed shiny web, lucky it was such slippery yarn it wond up fast - mind you that was also why the choke ties didn't work!!!

I had a similar experience during the weaving for my last exhibition. I warped up 17 metres of 36 epi in a textured silk I had never woven with before except foe=r a tny sample to check for details! Being used to working with painted warp wools, I worked threading front to back and had the most awful mess, finally sorted it with great exercising of patience I had only ever dreamed of experiencing , the started weaving to to find that the whole lot collapsed when I moved the warp on because of the messy way I had finally wound it on.
After 30 years of weaving I was back at square one on the idiot scale. Its a great lesson for the lazy weaver. I now follow Laura Fry's advice of warping back to front. I simply had got lazy working with forgiving wool which stretches and really only gives pain when it fluffs up and catches as you wind it on.

I feel your pain hope it is going well now.
