More Winter Clothes

There are times when cloth rolls off the looms and others where they are either in stasis or pending. This week caught some rolling off. This cloth is from Be Bold, embrace the hi-vis and ugly colours‘. I love the autumn tones of the cloth and wrapped it around the mannequin lots of times to see what would happen. I ended up using a variation of the first pattern from the Shitate no Hon book, which you can purchase from me and other Saori studios.

Pattern 1 Shitate no Hon

I wove 3.2 metres and after finishing used nearly 3 metres for the garment. The cloth was 42cms wide after finishing and was woven on the 250 thread (50cm width) black prewound. This gave the garment a longer sleeve allowance.

The garment is joined to form a circle and is a basic folding of the length leaving folded edges at the hems and stitched sides. A back neckline piece is inserted at the back neck.

The fabric was woven in wool, cotton and linen
