I had a lovely day workshop to finish 2019. Four participants filled with colour fun and ideas. Even if you’ve never seen a loom before Saori weaving is quite the excitement.
The best way of showing you our workshop is in images!
Thank you to all of the participants who helped may our last day workshop so enjoyable.
I’m not sure what 2020 will bring but then we never know really. Here in Oz we are still in bushfire extreme mode and now the ones down south are beyond very severe. Many have lost their lives. On one hand I can imagine it is uniting us, as I read of great kindness, braveness, selflessness and generosity to others but on another level it is bitterly splintering the country.
On another note I recently attended a fantastic textile exhibition at the Manning Regional Art Gallery in Taree. It was called un:Seen. It was by a group of artists called untethered Fibre Artists. One of the artists, Robyn McGrath did a floor talk and it really made the work come alive. It represented the theme of what others can’t see within you – the unseen. Robyn had a humble, compelling way of speaking about the work which was wonderful. I have a photo below of one of the works but sadly I can never get great photos at the gallery to do them justice so I hope my words can invite enthusiasm! Our country galleries do the best job of engaging people who are interested and even those who aren’t. No one hassling you and making you feel unwelcome and threatened like at the NSW Gallery in Sydney. You can absorb and really enjoy the works at regional galleries. I’m the number one fan.
I’m still in the process of planning the next weekend workshop dates but it will be posted shortly. Goody to another year of weaving and dreaming of those beautiful yarns and textures being interlaced into cloth.
Happy 2020!
