I seem to be totally absorbed with paper yarn at the moment and I’m not sure why. There is something about it’s crisp character that is a break from the soft wools and silks I’ve been using.
I painted these skeins of wide paper yarn and they turned out so well. Initally I was reluctant to swish them about in the watery dyes but they stood up to the treatment very well. However I didn’t try boiling them. Perhaps this would make them break down and I’d end up with writing paper instead of yarn. I’ve now turned them into balls and have them as a centrepiece on my kitchen table awaiting some glorious creative treatment….I’m not so sure when that will happen.
