Here are the images from the latest 3 day Saori workshop and dye day.

Amazing and inspiring  as always. A special and warm thanks to Louise, Jan, Donni, Marilyn, Jessica and Ying Ting.  The participants travelled from the local area, Wollongong, New Zealand and Singapore!  There was a mix of weaving experience and ages – so totally Saori and inclusive.  I think the photos explain the feel of the days better than words. I learnt so much. More workshops will be promoted towards the end of the year and into 2014.

We went through loads of techniques but the differential warp tension technique was a big hit. Here is a video released by Handen Studio–  US, on how to do it. You can do it on any loom but the set up of the Saori loom and our approach to weaving on it  is particularly suited its process.

Jan’s number two weave.
Donni’s mind was working overtime with new concepts and weave designs.
Completed!. Marilyn wove on the 200 threads for a magical weave.
Ying Ting took time off from sightseeing to join in too.

Wow, all reminded my Shanghai weaving workshop with Edith Cheung. Yes, she’s amazing. Love your colorful yarns and the soft texture.
