You can’t have too many looms

Looms lined up and waiting

I think we can always make room for another loom, don’t you. Even seven more lining the edge of a wall waiting their time to perform a duet. This was one of the exciting views in the Osaka Saori Studio.
The fold up styling of the Saori loom allows you to keep it anywhere, take it anywhere and weave on it everywhere. And if you don’t fancy sitting at the loom to thread and sley you can do it all at your kitchen table assisted with some pretty cool Saori tools. The cross holder seen here organises the cross in a horizontal position to neatly present each thread in its turn for sleying.
After this the two shafts, which are removed from the loom, are threaded in an upright position with the help of a shaft holder block. Then you just take it all over to the loom to beam it getting the weave action happening very quickly.

I think this is why weaving is such an inspiring, absorbing craft to do and follow…there are so many ways to setup and create weave textiles. Each method saying something about human insight and intellegence – put to good use, and a reflection of how our culture influences approaches to solving problems.

They are such neat little looms! I looked at them when I was shopping for a smaller loom, but sadly, just out of reach price wise. What a brilliant idea that cross holder is!

Had to read this post… I bought another loom last week (not a Saori, much as I’d like one).
