The Little Brisbane Mob weaves

A Brisbane weave by Allana

A weekend weaving with the Little Brisbane Mob certainly punched above its weight in style and weave exploration. I wasn’t aware beforehand that the workshop participants both came from Brisbane so it was double fun and called up the name for the post!  Yes a very small group but lively and we had a short stay local visitor too.

Even though a white warp can seem to go with many colours it can sometimes dampen or neutralise colours. This may be the effect you are after but it is interesting that the black base warp really worked well in bringing out Allana’s chosen lighter yarns.

Simone is a natural dyer whom, I think, has a great sensitivity to nuances in colours and changes in shades. She worked with with this in her work even though I happen to have some much brighter colours including fluros at the moment.

A warm thank you to the little Brisbane mob for adding their ways to the studio.

I’m doing a Quirindi/Coonabarabran  run to visit the ancestral lands soon so anyone wanting supplies delivered in any towns along the run please contact me. More interesting yarns are now up on the site.
