Last Workshop for 2018

Young Hayley weaving in the weekend workshop

Where has the year 2018 gone? They say you experience time differently as you get older –  it must speed up!

In my last full workshop for 2018 I had a small but very interesting group and we enjoyed new conversations and shared the relaxing and rewarding joys of handweaving.  Hayley joined her grandmother in weaving Saori.  She wove and wove and wasn’t daunted by the the full two days of activity.  She even took to weaving letters in inlay in the woven cloth. Pretty advanced really. And I thought, well why not!

Melissa and Anke came for a day segment and wove the most beautiful pieces.  Although they both used quite different colourways they both approached the weaving process with an air of wonder in a quiet creative manner. Have I written how much it means to me to have such humans in the studio exploring weaving. I think I have, over and over.

Margery wove two detailed pieces which were reminiscent to me of Paul Klee’s paintings.  They were woven on a warp which had cramming and spacing on it which is a form of ready made self patterning in plain weave. Truly delightful.

A warm thank you to the workshop participants this weekend. A great final workshop for the year and now I’m off to try to plan some weekend workshops for 2019. It is already shaping up to be a busy year with lots of private workshops and tuition lined up.

New coloured warps have arrived! See here for what’s available.
