Bring on the POM poms

Poms poms.  I’ve been admiring  their frivolity and making lots of them. With the purchase of a Clover pom pom maker  and the inspiration of how others are using them I created pom pom seed pods of some imaginary plant in soft dull grey cotton. I used them in  a woven table runner in jute. They seem quite impressed with themselves perched on the woven landscape. I also like the potential swing and sway of pom pom embellishment but in this weave I’ve locked them down into position.

Pom poms and their cousins tassels are used around our world as decorations and extra embellishment for textiles. From camel attire to baby bonnets, pom poms have always seemed like a great idea.

The Clover tool is quite different to the more traditional way of making pom poms with two circle templates. It makes it easier to wind the yarn around as it doesn’t need a needle to do it. Here are some festive pom pom garland ideas using the Clover tool.

Beautiful work Kaz! I like the added dimension the embellishments add to an article.
