One of the greatest Saori inspirations for weaving is the clothing. It is very creative and quite different to anything you’ll buy in a shop or make with structured sewing patterns and instructions. This beautiful and super easy top is from the
Fuku no Katachi ni Suru  book. It is surprising how comfy this clothing is. All of those years with the grain having to be on the body in this way or that and straight lines going this way or that. Who would have thought that it wasn’t important after all. The fabric is part of the secret too because I don’t think it would be easy to find fabric  that behaves in such a forgiving and interesting way in any store. You just have to weave it yourself – in your own way too.

This top is woven on a Saori pre-wound purple cotton warp from some time ago. It’s no longer available. It consisted of a mix of purples and textures but they were quite heavy. I used silk and wool as the weft and silk rya knots along the way.
