Woolly Saori for the Woolly Season & Flipboard

The woolly season is here, so I’ve gone wild with woolly saori weave. This image shows the ‘unbaked’ product straight off the loom. The real transformation of weave is in the finishing. So that’s next.

I used Noro Kureyon as the thick wool weft on the standard back cotton Saori warp,  combined with pieces of hand dyed woollen sliver that I hope will felt up and stick the whole textile together. It took only a few hours next to the warming heat of the fireplace to weave it. Is there anything better to cheer up a weavers heart. I think not.

The green scarf is the completed Wiggly Waggly Weave with daisies made from my sustainable warp project. This scarf has hand leno lace pickup to open it up more and some black sections of stainless steel and silk yarn to crunch it up.

Next up it’s the P2P2 project design and the Sakiori weave on my Saori loom. So may weaves so little time.

If you have an IPAD and  would like to view my blog in Magazine style. Download the free Flipboard app and search for ‘curiousweaver’. Now you can relax in your lounge room with your feet up, or on the bus and read all my posts. You can also link to my facebook page from flipboard to have a broader coverage of Saori sites.
